I don't really know why I read this book and have decided to actually stop reading anything by this author. All of the books just have the weirdest pacing. This book also had a really bad ending. The first 350 pages were ok, not good but also not all that bad and the only reason this book doesn't have 1 star in my opinion. The ending though was bad. It was just not done right at all. Other books can do the whole big reveal at the end but this one was just plain bad and out of place. I really wouldn't recommend reading this book, it just isn't worth the time.

Though no work of art, I enjoyed it enough. First half was better than the 2nd half. It got a little cheesy towards the end, but I was here for some cheese soooo. /shrug

4/10 | "The Queen's Assassin" is a disjointed blend of fantasy and romance that neither captivates nor satisfies, with weak character portrayals and an unconvincing plot. This book is hard to recommend to anyone looking for a compelling narrative in either fantasy or romance.

.....I wouldn't say it was bad..... but I wouldn't say it was good either. To say there is a "plot twist" implies that it is not obvious from the first page.... and that there is a stronger plot. Characters are flat and yet inconsistent. Switching POV and between 1st and 3rd person causes weaknesses in the writing. It has potential, but kind of feels like someone read a bunch of fantasy books, pulled their favorite bits, and threw them together. And then didn't have an editor. Also, HATED the ending. Okay, maybe I am saying it was bad... but I finished it? And will probably read the next one in hopes of dramatic improvements.
