It always touches my heart when I see Malay women being represented honestly and sincerely in media. This is pretty much as sincere and honest as it gets. The monologue is of course written deftly. The sporadic use of Malay is accurate and fantastic.

My gripe is the lack of punctuation. There are times where the character is playing out roles of people she meets in her life. The lack of quotation marks or paragraphing can make it a little confusing as to whether it's her talking or the other person. Since I can't see Siti Khalijah acting it out either, punctuation would really help.

All in all, I enjoyed reading it, and acting it out. I sincerely hope to see more works like this. Simple pure storytelling, from underrepresented characters.

Have always loved Haresh Sharma works. This book is literally everything. Even though its short, I enjoyed reading it throughout and I love how the story is so relatable as a Malay person myself and how it is so hilarious but true at the same time. Definitely one of my best reads. Truly highly recommended!

Best of is a monologue written by Haresh Sharma and performed by Siti. K (wow!! Alone!! All at once! While sitting in a chair!) following a day in a life of a woman who starts of visiting her Cousin in prison, going to the Shariah court because she has been trying to get her husband to divorce her, and finally at the hospital. Throughout, she shares her personal experience and thoughts on divorce, the Malay community, stereotypes, & what loss means to her. It’s not a treatise or an opinion piece but a personal voice that shows you how a woman trying to just live her life is touched by all these issues.⁣ Just a woman sharing her story in the simplest way—with her voice.

I really loved the tone of the play it was so earnest, funny, and heartfelt. And reading it I could just hear Siti K’s voice performing it. Wish I could have watched it!
