there is SO MUCH going on in this relatively really short story -- elephants, corpse-jumping, dysphoria when the body Literally Isn't Yours, worldbuilding that i would straight-up read a whole novel about -- and all of it fucking slaps. elephants and corpses 200k novel when /j (but seriously read it it's so good and it's online for free)

One thing that I could commend this for, is its exceptional world building. It isn't every day that you could get a compact and believable setting for a short story, especially one that tackles high fantasy. I love the whole idea of body mercs and I just wished the author would write a full novel or series(!!!!) about this. Recommend for all fantasy readers out there.

Great free short story by Kameron Hurley. A body switcher and his manager get into some strange deep trouble after getting hold of a corpse. The story is both serious and funny at the same time. The tone is light but the protagonists touch some great philosophical points during their banter. The idea of corpse-occupying was cleverly thought and explained and it could provide the basis for a longer novel.
Recommended for a quick and enjoyable read. You can find this short story free on Tor website, so there's really nothing holding you back.
