The concept was interesting initially, but I saw too many parallels with real world events that led to genocide in the early 1900s and the characters started punishing peasants in a way that was too uncomfortable to continue. There isn't much of a redemption arc that you could have put them on to make me feel like I want to continue the story after that.

I was also disappointed woth the way they treated the dragons as slightly more intelligent war horses that fly and breathe fire.
