Quite funny and well written. The book takes a serious turn about two-thirds through, tackling some difficulties of being female and famous in the 21st century - which was insightful and smart, but also darker and heavier in tone than the rest of the book, which is fairly light. I enjoyed both approaches, but not sure how I feel about them in the same book.

"Reads like a kind of newspaper article, rather one dimensional. Would not look for any more books by this author."

I've enjoyed reading Petri's columns for several years. So it was no surprise that I would enjoy this series of essays. I can resonate with many of her experiences, but that's not what I enjoyed most. Her wit mixed with honesty and shamelessness leads to a fun book, with lots of reflections on life.

I could not relate to her it all which isn't a deciding factor in books, I just think she had a target audience and I wasn't it. Her stories would be interesting but they would just keep going...at one point I think I said out loud "okay you can stop now".

Funny and thoughtful essays. Alexandra Petri may be the only reason I have a Washington Post subscription. She's consistently fierce and funny in her columns and having an expanded arena to fully explore topics is a great advantage.

I give up.
It's been a hassle reading this, for the following two reasons.

1) Slow reading - couldn't allocate enough time to motor on.
2) I am ignorant. I don't know who the author is. Why she is famous, with that o don't feel like investing my time further.

So if you are reading this review, you should read this. It was funny. Some parts had me giggling and nodding.

Sadly I don't really know the claim to fame of the author writing this sorta memoir , it's easier to get curious about big names (yes I am that shallow sometimes )and I do not wish to read further for all those reasons.
