At this point I've read many an accidental friends-to-lovers book, this one was surprisingly unique. It hit most of the same story beats as the rest of the books but it did so in a way that I still found interestingly different. So, I liked that. On the other hand, Gray's mental state keeps getting worse and worse until they finally address it in a scene that made me go "That has got to be one of the worst ways to confront someone with PTSD possible". And then it keeps getting worse so that by the 85% mark both of them absolutely miserable. So I liked they're dynamic, I liked that it didn't end in a perfectly happy ending but I didn't have that much fun. 2.5 stars?

Hmm.. 3.5 stars for the book
5++ stars for the audio

I think this is my least favorite of this series.
I wanted for a best friends to lovers book to have more tension and more spark.

I did however like the fact that we experienced how Gray's phobia started whereas in the previous books it was something already there.

Overall the romance didn't work for me here, but the phobia aspect was fascinating.

Adam Gold is just..... sigh.... so good.

This was my first book from Nicky James and I was surprised by how immersed I became in Gray's struggle along with the unwavering support from his best friend, Beck. After a freak accident where Gray loses part of his leg, he moves in with Beck. While dealing with the aftereffects of losing his leg and PTSD, he has to hide his attraction for his best friend while living with him. Beck also comes to the realization that he sees Gray as more than his best friend, but he also struggles with how to help Gray when he pulls away from him and goes into his own mind. It's a truly loving story between Gray and Beck, but added on was the realization of a fractured mind and dealing with PTSD while trying to move on. A lovely story and highly recommended!

I have no words! Very powerful writing; book hangover ensued!

This is the first book of Nicky’s I’ve read and it was powerful! How she gets into the mind of Chronophobia (a persistent, abnormal and unwarranted the fear of time or the passing of time) is incredible. I could feel Gray’s fear and anxiety come off the page. Throughout the whole journey of Gray’s recovery from a freak accident, his development of PTSD, anxiety, and chronophobia was so detailed I felt like I was suffering right alongside him. Nicky’s writing style while detailed is injected with raw emotion in each word. I look forward to reading more of Nicky’s work and definitely the rest of this series once I’ve recovered!

I enjoyed the way Nicky approached Beck’s pansexual/bisexual discovery. This felt more real than other realizations I’ve read and I enjoyed her refreshing take on the friends to lovers/gay for you trope.

Grayson and Beckett have stolen my heart and I enjoyed their road to love, healing, and support. Highly recommended read!!

Why does the author use the word appendage more than once in this book? With zero chemistry, a desperate and traumatized gay mc, and a boring quirky straight mc, this book did not work for me. Them having sex right after a panic attack did not work for me. The borderline SA didn't work for me. Learning how to fully function on a prosthetic in 2 months seemed insane and unnecessary to the storyline. I hated the stupid animals (I do not hate animals irl). Beck turning bi for no reason makes no sense; their best friend connection didn't justify it at all. Gray being creepy about his years long love for Beck is weird and makes him look like such a loser. Especially since he continually verbalizes his loseryness, even during sex. Him being tall, muscley, and tattood did not save his image due to his insane innerr monologue. Also, the fact that he was still so muscular after months of not moving, not going to the gym, and barely eating is stupid. So disappointed in this one. Everything about the premise interested me, and I hate read the book until I couldn't anymore.

This was somewhat disappointing, Beck is I think the most frustrating, unrelatable and most self-absorbed character I’ve ever read. He had so much potential but was so unlikely for most of the book. Grayson, so a Lille better his plight was endearing and though he too had his issues, he was mostly sympathetic. And the frustrating part of this book went on for a huge chunk of it. This was just disappointing all around, especially having read almost all on Nick James books, this geeky amateurish like something she wrote a lot earlier in her writing career. Maybe even her very first book.

Oh, I loved this! It broke my heart in the best way and then made it whole again.
Lost in a Moment is an intense, deeply emotional friends to lovers story. I don’t think I’ve ever read an OFY romance with quite this much angst and longing, nor based on such a deep, abiding friendship.

It was at times almost a painful story to read, because one of the MC’s, Grayson, has survived something truly horrible and is still suffering and fighting to deal with the aftermath. It gets a bit dark and sad, with several heartbreaking moments, but on the upside, as a reader you get drawn so inexorably into Grayson and Beckett’s world that every loving gesture or step in the right direction will also pierce your heart and have you smiling.

Grayson and Beckett’s friendship is so incredibly strong and they already love each other so much even before they (both) realize they are in love. It makes it even more painful for both men when they realize there are things they can’t help each other with or when they start fearing that they can’t be who the other needs. But hey… when the going gets tough ;-)

This author never ceases to amaze me. I absolutely recommend this book.
