This really is a cute story. Even though it's winter, poor Ant doesn't want to be by herself just quite yet. She makes a trip through snow and sleet and cold to visit Honey Bee, her best friend. Honey Bee, on the other hand, is perfectly happy to be alone. She ignores Ant's attempts to play and initiate a conversation, but Ant sucks her in with a meal.

I loved the play on words in this and even the nonfiction references - royal jelly, hibernation, and ant strength. It's an easy read, but it's also engaging. Good for adults who are helping sound out words and supporting new readers. Two thumbs up Megan McDonald. You rock. (Still love Judy Moody).
