Not my kind of book. I honestly don’t know why I thought I’d like this. Pretty confusing but I finished it

I devoured this in two days after finishing The Sundial, craving more of Ward's books. Little Eve is her second book, which is visible when reading it. There are the inklings of family love and terror, but the setting is wholly unique from her latter works, making this far more gothic tragedy than modern-day horror. I borrowed the ebook from my library and ended up finishing it in just under 4.5 hours apparently so I recommend it for anyone in need of a quick and dirty read

dark and very atmospheric. i feel like there were so many different hints and references throughout it. lots of tension building and it very grim from the beginnging however
i think the rose storyline could have been left out or broadened. it really didn't add much to the storyline at all to me. it was pretty obvious Uncle was creepy and awful from the get-go, but i was on edge the whole time with how volatile eve and dinah's relationship was. eve in general was a very interesting character. i liked having an unreliable narrator. but honestly the creepiest thing from this book was Baby Elizabeth. she is the thing of nightmares. even if she is also just a very troubled and traumatized girl. yeesh.
will try her other books.

I waited for this one to tip like Needless Street, flipping from a story to an epic tale...but for me, it never did.
