read anne carson's translation from "grief lessons".

THESEUS
Is this the all-heroic Heracles talking?
HERAKLES
Not all-heroic. There has to be some limit to pain.

I love Anne Carson’s translations she always does gorgeous work. Honestly things just got less and less clear as the play went on but I can appreciate it. Enjoyed overall but am left with many questions

I saw this performed at the ancient Greek Theatre in Syracuse, Sicily. I found it shockingly affecting and emotionally resonant, given the ostensible subject matter. I suppose some themes are just universal and timeless?

Better than it is supposed to be. Nice choruses well-integrated to action. Heracles goes crazy and kills his wife and kids. Sad.
