A novella, so it’s probably 11.5 in the paranormal Women of the Otherworld series, I really don’t get the title. There’s nothing counterfeit about the magic in this particular story unless it’s referring to the trickery that is used.

The Story
Taking place three years after the assassinations in Miami, Lucas has accepted that he must play a part in the Cortez Cabal and Paige is still battling her way upstream in a probably fruitless quest to achieve acceptance as Lucas’ partner from its board. After yet another meeting in Miami, Paige has returned to their offices on the West Coast only to be thrust into an initial meeting with an imperious half-demon who insists that only Lucas will be permitted to deal with her case.

Well, the woman-demon is a fawning Lucasphile just dripping all over Lucas and when the team splits up to investigate, logic dictates that the woman be teamed up with Lucas while Savannah and Paige explore a particular fight club---with Savannah as the fighter.

It’s a short, sweet plot that turns out to have greater depth and treachery than expected with a neat, nasty twist in the end. You’ll enjoy the read!

The Cover
The cover is great. I don’t see how it relates to either the story or the title but it is definitely interesting with the beautiful woman sitting sideways in the curled-up tongue of the demon.

First rule of fight club, don't talk about fight club.

I love that Savannah is willing to volunteer to fight in the fight club to try and solve the mystery. Paige and Lucas are two of my favorite characters in the Otherworld Stories series and picking up this novella was like heading out for coffee with friends you haven't seen in years.

Now I have to try and find more of the novellas and catch up with more of my old friends.

This novella slots in before Waking The Witch however unlike some authors, you never feel like you're missing something if you read the main books without the short stories. A quick read about supernatural fight clubs with a little bit of extra around Paige and Lucas's relationship.

I didn't know that the novellas were being released as ebooks so I did get the limited edition book. The quality of binding is top notch though the illustrations are a bit blah. Illustrations are so rare outside of kids books I usually get all excited over them.

I love reading about Paige, Lucas and Savannah too. I fell for the same thing that Paige did. Darn it, we should have both known better. I can't believe how grown up Savannah is now. It seems like the other day when Paige and Lucas took her in.

Very mildly entertaining for an hour of unfocused mindlessness. Really don't know why I wasted my time.

Paige and Lucas have had relationship issues since Lucas started working with the Cabal, whose members ignore Paige. Now Paige is feeling jealous as Lucas has to work with an attractive young client who is obviously trying to seduce him. Savannah goes undercover at a supernatural fight club to find out what happened to the woman's brother.

I prefer stories about the wolf pack but this was a decent story focusing on Paige, Lucas, Adam and Savannah. I'm not a Savannah fan because I find her to be a whiny brat who throws magic she can't control at every problem, but in this book she was fine. The story about the boy going missing after being suspected of cheating the fight club in a betting scam was quite interesting. However I was more intrigued by the relationship crisis facing Paige and Lucas.

Paige wants to get back to the way things used to be and she is trying to think how to get things back on track. Lucas doesn't seem to like Ava much much Paige starts to get concerned when she can never get Lucas on the phone. Adam is acting a little strange and Savannah just wants to unleash a few spells on Ava...

Is Lucas cheating on Paige? You'll need to read the book to find out as I'm not putting spoilers in. I did like the story though.
