This book had an amazing storyline. Following the characters and seeing their growth from start to finish was so satisfying.

This book has been on my to read list for a few years and it was well worth the read. There were parts I absolutely loved and felt so inspired by. I love historical fiction and it made me think about the people who would have learned about Jesus and his teachings in a way I had never considered before. My only criticism of the story is the odd 'magical' power of the robe. I think the power of Jesus is in His teachings and His divine mission and not in his belongings. A very good book that I would give a 4.5 if I could but a 5 is good too.

I won't say that I disliked this book, because that would be inaccurate. I rather enjoyed the characters presented and liked getting to know them. But I really struggled to keep reading this. Especially when Marcellus is "looking for homespun", I'm sure the author was trying to show his conversion to Christianity, but to me it was fairly empty and more just words on a page than convincing.

It was definitely an interesting read to consider the perspectives of those at the time just following Jesus Christ's crucifixion. There are many time period explanations that help one to see how the message could have been spread among nations.

I must say though, I am glad it is over and I can move onto a more fast paced book.
