Not even remotely shocking since I adore exit West so much but this was a delight. Anders and Oona are such flawed people and as this massive cultural shift occurs, they navigate that part of their relationship, but also all of the normal human parts in a really really interesting way.

This book had an interesting premise that started strong and faltered as it continued, but worthwhile nonetheless.

"...then the wedding ring and the wallet and the phone on the dead man were all tallied up, and the messages that had been sent, and the experts weighed in, and the sum of it all was clear, in other words that a white man had indeed shot a dark man, but also that the dark man and the white man were the same."

very deadpan descriptive / observational writing style that i appreciated, especially as a way to ground a fantastical story such that it becomes believable. short read that had my attention the whole time.
