Much better than Volume 4, completely action packed and so many interesting fight sequences!
******SPOILERS AHEAD******
In this Volume, Doves are tracking Rose and eventually end up cornering the Tsukiyama family to be Ghouls. Unexpectedly, Aogiri joins the fight along with a transformed Kanae, who apparently is a woman. I don't mind changing your gender but why though? I could understand the case of Mutsuki, but Kanae, not really?
Now there are interesting fight sequences especially the one involving Tsukiyama butlers, Mairo and Matsume fighting against Hairu and Kijima. I admit I never liked these two Investigators and I feel they got what they deserved. On the other hand, Qs are wonderfully coordinated and fought like a team, if only Sasaki could see them, he'd be so proud!
Haise is troubled over his past and even confronted Akira over Amon. I was quite surprised that she accepted Haise despite knowing the truth. I wonder if she truly cares for him or if its merely a show. So when Haise still tries to talk about his past to Shuu, on the roof, as expected Shuu vents all his anger in the fight. Yet somehow Haise manages to overpower him (but doesn't kill him.. thanks to the inner voice - Kaneki) until, bastard Kanae turns up.
I hate it when people are unable to express themselves and blame someone else for it. Kanae could not tell Shuu that she loves him, so instead she decides to kill Haise (like where's the logic here?) That's when something strange happened. Haise got all scared and riled up after having a flashback of Arima, and Arima was torturing him (?) and called him his Quinque (tf!).. I'm really not sure what that was..
The ending though, I think it's Eto - The Owl and Haise remembered lines from the book, The Black Goat's Egg - A book he once thought aptly described his situation.. We surely are on the journey to meet Kaneki..

This is the last of what I own of this series, I know I was hesitant to get the whole thing because there was a point I lost interest, and while this volume started to dip into some of the more confusing paneling I think I may keep going at some point.
