A fun romance book! It was actually quite hilarious at points.

I didn’t always love the characters and what they did, but I think that’s accurate. And I like that we get both Emma’s and Amaury’s POV so we can see WHY they’re acting like idiots.

But once again, I like that there’s more to this book than just romance. I will definitely continue with the series!

solid 3.5 stars...definitely not one of my favorite Sands historicals but funny at times, sweet with just a bit of betrayal and intrigue thrown in for fun

I started reading the Lynsay Sands vampire series and enjoyed her writing and humor so much that I thought I'd try her historical novels. Because I'm a bit behind on these I'm loving that they are re-releasing her earlier historicals so I can get caught up. Lynsay Sands has such a way with humor and almost impossible situations that you spend half her books slapping your forehead and saying "D'oh!" This story was no different. Emmalene was an innocent young woman who wanted a family of her own. When her husband wouldn't rise to the task, she petitioned the king to make her husband come to her bed. Before he could complete the deed he was killed and the king granted her hand in marriage to Amaury, a knight who has proved his worth to the king. Their story is filled with humor, love, action, and some sexiness to keep it spicy. Great read and a great addition to the historical writings of Lynsay Sands.

Pretty cute. Emma has the plucky heroine thing down, even her extreme naivete is endearing. Minor drawback, but were left to.wonder what happened to Fulk.

Excellent book. Good chemistry, and the humor was outstanding. Emma's naivety gets her into all kinds of interesting situations with her new husband. I do like the way that she is not afraid to stand up for herself when she needs to. She is also pretty good at rescuing herself from some of the situations she ends up in. Amaury is a good husband for her, though it is pretty rocky at the beginning. He has no idea how to deal with a lady, and some of the things that he says really set her off. I loved the way they learned about each other and came to truly love each other.
