I read this after Take a Hint, Dani Brown because I was not initially aware that that title was part of a series. I have started Act Your Age, Eve Brown and I am really curious to see how her character develops from how she is represented in these earlier novels.

I personally prefer this novel to the sequel! Chloe and Red's relationship feels well fleshed out, though maybe a touch too fast (though maybe I'm just a bit of a skeptic when it comes to quickly developed romantic relationships). I love the focus throughout this series on mental health and disability/neurodivergence representation. I do not have fibro, but Chloe's struggles with spoons and having an invisible disability are incredibly relatable.

The romance genre often has a problem with allowing characters to violate their potential partner's boundaries with little to no punishment. I love that this title does not fall into that trap. Chloe and Red are both highly aware of the importance of boundaries. They constantly ask each other for explicit consent before deepening their romantic/physical relationship (and omg consent is sexy). The focus on boundaries, consent, and meeting one's partner's needs made Chloe and Red's relationship feel both idyllic and achievable. Their banter is adorable and now I need someone to call me Button (even though I'll pretend to hate it), and Smudge is absolutely the best name for a cat.

Late novel spoilers
I am not a fan of third act breakups - I often find them to be used as an excuse to lengthen a novel that could have ended better 50 odd pages earlier - but the way this trope is used in this novel works in my opinion. Although the miscommunication trope is used to instigate this breakup (as is often the case), these tropes feel like they bring out the fears and triggers of the characters rather than being used just as a bit of late-novel filler. All in all, the use of tropes in this novel feel believable for the characters and not like an excuse to participate in a trope

Something about Get A Life, Chloe Brown was addicting. I enjoyed the characters, the romance, and the writing style.

My allosexual friends struggle to describe what sexual attraction is… I think I understand after reading this book 😂 As a sex repulsed asexual person, I don’t read a lot of adult romance and I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the books despite the fact that they were so horny.

What to expect from the Brown sisters trilogy:
1. So! much! horniness!!
2. Plus size, Black, Muslim, Queer, Neurodivergent and disability representation
3. Loveable, slightly ridiculous and dramatic (said with affection) characters/situations
4. Beautiful family bonds
5. Humor!
6. Minor/Brief Harry Potter references

Would have been 4 stars but I never quite recovered from the 3rd act breakup.
I’m not convinced she really should have forgiven him; he said some really hurtful things & the gifts felt like lovebombing.

“You are a woman who, in a life filled with pain, came here to ask about love.”

The speed in which I read this book once I finally sat down and just did nothing for hours but just enjoy the story of Chloe and Red. I don’t know why it took me so long to read this book but am so glad that I finally did pick it up finally. I can say right now that I really enjoy Talia Hibbert’s writing and can’t wait to read about the other two Brown sisters soon.

One of the main reasons I picked this book up was that Chloe was a bigger girl and she found love in the book - and I love seeing plus size girls and women falling in love and being happy forever. The other reason I wanted to read this was how much people loved it online and I wanted to see some of the rep in the book.

While reading I found myself giggling, kicking my feet in the air, and having such a fun time with the characters here. I found myself relating a bit to Chloe in different aspects of her life and feeling happy to know that she was in her early 30s finding this love, so me in my late 20s still has time to find it myself with my own Redford.

I am giving this book four stars because I really enjoyed the book. The only thing I didn’t like was how often there was miscommunication between the characters (JUST TALK! USE YOUR WORDS!) even though it made sense with who they were
and maybe if they had had some sort of revenge against Pippa & Henry - like just revenge by showing how much happier Chloe & Red were together and without the others!
. However other than that - a great book and I highly suggest it!

“Bliss should be held on to with both hands.”

I took a whole star off for all the mentions of HP because no thanks.
The third act breakup I saw coming from a mile away because of how much mis-communication there was and the fact Chloe didn’t let him see the full list at first but I still hated that it happened.
SMUDGE FOREVER BELONGS TO CHLOE AND I’M SO GLAD THE LITTLE FLUFF WAS RETURNED!
The scene where Red was wondering if blue balls made him dumb because he let Chloe in his apartment after giving himself a hand made me laugh so hard because no Red - you’re just in love already.
