I cannot overstate how much I love these books. This final one was no disappointment. The pace was a lot slower than the other books but it was so worth. The anthropological undertones to Marie Brennan’s world/culture building are so evident because they’re so realistic. No spoilers, just love love love.

I feel like the ending could have been one book all to it's own.

Imagine a final novel that is a political thriller of how the draconians interact with the installing of a new emperor.

Apart from that it has been a fun series I just think the ending could do some work.

An excellent way to end the Lady Trent memoirs- one last adventure in a far-flung part of the world, and a discovery that will change not!Earth's society (can't think of a real world equivalent for the spoilerific plot element here, for once).

This wasn't my favorite Lady Trent novel. It felt like the pacing is the middle slowed down too much and I found myself getting bored. But the ending was very well done with the usual fantastic character work and setting.
