This is book four in the Taking Shots series, but all books including this one can be read as a standalone. It helps to know all the people in the world of college, hockey and life that Cindi Madsen so wonderfully created.
We have met Ryder and Lindsay in previous books and now finally get their own story.
While I loved all books in the series I must say this one was my favorite one so far.
I really enjoyed Lindsay and her backstory, even the not so fun parts of her past, but it made her to what we know and love now.
Ryder. Oh My Swoon. He has his eyes on Lindsay and is pulling out all the stops to win her over.
Their journey was sooo much fun to read. Though, of course not all is rainbows and unicorns for them and they are hitting a rough spot. I love how Cindi Madsen always finds the most sweetest and romantic ways to make it up not only to the characters but also the readers.
Overall, great funny, sweet, romantic but also heartfelt and sexy read. I really enjoyed it.

I had to DNF this book for not being able to get into it.

It’s not what I thought it would be. I expected the puck bunny/former puck bunny to be actually shown to us and not told and during all that we watch Lindsay meet and fall for Ryder. Instead they have already met and he’s working to attract her and she’s working to avoid them.

Which still sounds cute and all, but their interactions just weren’t that good. But more so, the author’s way of writing and wording things just did not flow well for me. I had a lot of trouble getting past the second chapter. I did, hoping it would pick up, but just couldn’t get into the story, relate to the characters and enjoy the writing. Despite labelling each chapter and part as to who is talking, there was no difference in tone and voice for me so I got confused as to who was talking when.

As a result I DNFd this book. I would still like to thank the author and publisher and Netgalley for providing me with a copy with this though.

This was absolute trash. Way too long of a book for the plot to be as thin as it was. I felt no chemistry with the characters. Literally just Lindsay repeating every 8 pages that she used to be a slut.

Lindsay used to be a former puck bunny. She has since retired from that lifestyle and is focused on her last year of college and future goals. I really liked her character because she owned her past. She didn't try to make excuses for what she did and she realized before it was too late she needed a change. She was strong, feisty and determined to make something out of herself.

Ryder wasn't your typical jock. He lived a very structured and controlling life with his parents. When he's around Lindsay he can relax and not have to worry about saying or doing the wrong thing. When Lindsay is with Ryder she's able to let her walls down and let herself be loved the way she should. Ryder was accepting of Lindsay's past and he saw past that and knew what kind of person she was deep down. I really liked this couple because they changed for the better when they were together and did a lot of growing as a couple. Those are the best kind of relationships in my book.

I absolutely adored this book!! I've never read anything by this author before and I devoured it in one day!! This story had everything I enjoyed in a book! It had romance, slow burn, sexy times, funny times and angst. The story was evenly paced and there was no over the top drama. This was a very refreshing storyline because normally it's the guy that is sleeping around. In this case the female lead had a very active prior sex life and I liked the way the author thought outside the box for this story. Even though I didn't read the other books (which I plan to rectify) I felt like I was apart of the gang. Madsen has a special way of creating characters that you can't help but love!!

When this book came across my radar everything about it called to me. The description, the cover, the very high chance for a happily ever after (I really need my books to have a HEA). Confessions of a Former Puck Bunny is an NA sports romance and #4 in the Taking Shots series by Cindi Madsen.

For some reason, I hadn’t realized that this book was a part of a series, while reading out of order is not typically something I would do I decided to persevere without pausing to read the others in the series first. I’m so glad that I did. This book was cute and sweet with an excellent beta hero. While it was clear there were other couples that came first the story didn’t rely heavily on knowing this details and I was able to follow alone without any problem.

Now, the good part. We need to talk about Ryder. I just love a sweet, smart, caring hero and Ryder had it all going for him. A hockey player with muscles upon muscles who’s sensitive and sweet and academically smart? Yes, please!!

Lindsay the heroine is a reformed puck bunny just trying to make it to graduation without slipping back into her puck bunny ways. The two big obstacles are Ryder and her math grade. Unfortunately for her, the best shot at conquering the math problem is spending more time with Ryder while he tutors her. As she gets better at math, she starts to realize staying away from another hockey player is harder than she thought.

"If things were different . . . I could really see myself slipping."
"Just slip." I reached up and ran my thumb across her bottom lip, my blood pumping hotter at her sharp exhale. "I'll catch you."

I LOVED Ryder but I wasn’t a huge fan of Lindsay in the beginning of the story. She put up a lot of the obstacles between them. I found she was sometimes unnecessarily mean and actually fairly immature even though she was two years older than Ryder (although, can I just mention how much I love that our hero is younger?) He was thoughtful and considerate of feelings for most of the book like a true beta would be. Ryder really took his time, chased her, and always saw them as long-term even when Lindsay couldn’t.

“In the moments she laughed and fired off those quick comebacks, I was sure she felt the same spark I did, but before she let herself fully enjoy it, she’d quickly pull away.”

The story was fairly predictable but oh, so sweet and I was right about the HEA. Overall this was a well written, very sweet NA story and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for an easy read with a guaranteed happy ending. I’m definitely adding the other books in the series to my to be read list!

Note: I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an unbiased review.

I have really enjoyed this series. Ryder has been interesting since the beginning, his broody intensity. His seriousness while all the other hockey players were bro-ing it up was different.
The narrators were fantastic and I enjoyed listening to this story.
