Cute transitional book for kids. I like the relationship of the characters and the vocabulary range used.

Cute story, kind of felt like an early reader, chapter book and graphic novel. It does have some challenging words in it.

This was a very cute book. We listened to it on audio, and it came through really well, though we did miss quite a bit without the pictures. We really enjoyed the humor and the stories of these two girls.

It was weird and made no sense. I also didn't like the way Gollie treated Bink a lot of the time. Not a good message.

Absolutely adorable! The illustrations are wonderful, the text simple and clever, an all-around great book. Not quite a picture book, not quite an early reader, something fun and charming in-between.

Spunky Bink is best friends with Gollie, a unique girl with a sophisticated vocabulary. In this early chapter book, Bink and Gollie have adventures with socks, fish, and the Andes, while exploring themes of friendship, compromise, independence, and loyalty. The girls seem to live on their own, Gollie in a loft atop a tree and Bink in a cottage at the base of the tree. They go about roller skating, eating peanut butter and pancakes, and realizing they are each other's best friend in spite of their differences.

Full-page illustrations support relatively scarce text in a style reminiscent of the graphic novel format. Some readers will need help understanding Gollie, though contextual clues aid in understanding. This is a fun, engaging read for elementary girls that is sure to become a favorite. It is recommended for elementary schools and public libraries.

I read the galley quite some time ago, loved it and have been waiting for the book to come out so I could read it again and savor it. It's just as brilliant the second time around. I think this could be read many, many times and enjoyed every time. The short little chapters are great for young readers but any age will appreciate the quirky Bink and subdued Gollie and their funny little friendship. The stories are sweet and humorous...most of the laughs coming from Tony Fucile's fab illustrations. Would make a fine gift!
