Charming, just like the first. The most "tells it like it is" account of bookselling I've encountered, yet Bythell still somehow makes me nostalgic for a trade which I very much do not want to go back to. Perhaps my error was not doing it in a cute town in Scotland.

What an odd book. Perhaps it’s me, as I see that plenty of people rate it highly - and even find it amusing.
It’s well written, and a couple of the characters are great. But I couldn’t get past the relentless, determined, glumness. I’m left with a sense of someone who will always blame others for the things that go wrong in life and who will therefore lurch along miserably for ever more.
An occasionally witty read. But too morose - and too repetitive - for me. Might work better as a blog.

“Elliot was in the bath from 8.30-9am again today”.
“A man, who I assume was the children’s father asked, “Is it called ‘The Bookshop’ because it’s full of books?”. How do these people feed themselves?”
