Great writing and fascinating research. I did get quite tired of reading about the depressingly overwhelming amount of misogyny in European medieval history but it was certainly told well.

omgggggggg

i love when a book actually makes me think! this book put into words some thoughts and feelings i’ve had about our society’s view on gender/sex/work, as well as educated me on a section of history i haven’t studied much.

i got this book from the library, and i usually never care to have a copy of library books. however, i’m thinking about purchasing this book just so i can call back to it when i please (it helps that the cover’s cool, too).

This book is so well articulated and not a single sentence is wasted, nor is a single point unnecessary. It was a struggle to read but that is due to my personal issues finding time to read and my slowness at reading non-fiction. The writing itself is well-paced, but the information is densely packed and while I enjoyed it, I think it meant I was dwelling on every sentence a lot more, or returning to parts I felt I had forgotten.
