The premise had me intrigued right away. I thought this would be a typical sweet romance, but I found it to be heart-wrenching, depressing at times, and much more realistic than most romances. Unlike other romance novels, this story showcases flawed characters that break apart the relationships around them and make huge mistakes. I disagree with the mistakes the characters make, and some of their sentiments as well, but I think they made the characters feel more real. Real relationships, and people, are imperfect (often frustratingly, infuriatingly so), something that often is not shown in romance. I enjoyed how the story was told across 10 years; it reminded me of the film “Love, Rosie.” This story was beautiful and made me contemplate the nature of relationships and love, but I do agree that some elements felt a little trope-y (ie: insta-love) + how certain mistakes were not addressed/problematic comments/viewpoints from Jack. I thoroughly enjoyed reading though, and I read in one sitting (I may have shed some tears as well.)

I did not like the main characters—especially the leading man. Horrible, unprincipled behavior and lots of language & sex. The pacing and storytelling was generally good, I just didn't like the story.

Meh. Read like a YA novel. Not necessarily a bad thing but didn’t much care for it. Rounded up from 2.5 stars.

I love the dual narrative of the book. Josie Silver does it in a way that doesn’t annoy you by hearing the same event twice. She writes Laurie and Jack’s points of view with eloquence, she makes you feel like you’ve been friends with Laurie, Jack and Sarah forever.
Would highly recommend to anyone, but be warned there are moments that might just make you cry.

It was very predictable. Boring tropes. Only moderately likeable characters. Def not complex. Got through it. But would not recommend at all.

They’re definitely going to be auctioning rights to this book and turning it into a movie. Love (all types not just romantic), soulmates, timing etc...it’s easy to reduce this book as Laurie and Jack’s love story but I was more interested in Sarah and Laurie’s love story. They were the true soulmates for me and I’m glad they found their way back to each other. A nice easy read if you like romance novels

3.5. the first 25% of the book i was rolling my eyes because seeing someone at a bus stop and then being obsessed with them for a year is not realistic. But the book definitely grew on me. Kinda reminds me of Love Rosie. Right person wrong time trope. A very cute christmas read
