Hmm, pernah pengen beli di stand Ufuk di bukfer karena gambar si Splat-nya lucu pisan, bulu(rambut)nya keren, tapi pas lihat harganya, busyettt...mayan juga sih untuk komik 36 halaman harga 30rebuan klo gak salah....

Nah, pas nunggu pukul 2 siang tadi sebelum memulai klub buku GRI, eh nemu buku ini di TMBookstore Detos, baca sambil nikmati gambarnya yang oye, kelar deh. Ceritanya ya simpel bener sih, gambarnya yg bikin seger. Suka si splat!

Love it for the art alone - hooray Rob Scotton! - but the story is cute, too, about the worries that come with starting school.

I'm not sure what took me so long to read Splat's first adventure, but it's a great story for this time of year --when the kids are going off to school and they might be a little nervous about what the new days will hold for them. Splat is a reassuring little fuzzball...like most cats! The cuddly artwork and simple but fun storyline is one that kids are sure to want to re-read over and over.

Fun back-to-school story about a cat, Splat, who's really not keen on the idea of going to school on the first day. He brings along his best friend, a mouse, and we wonder about how that will work out with his class of more typical milk-drinking, mouse-chasing kitties. Not sure how the illustrations are done but the effect of Splat's soft fuzziness against cartoony background details is charming.

Someone asked me last year for a starting-school book where everything wasn't okay by day two (for a child in that situation), but where everything eventually turns out okay, and you know there isn't much. Mostly, like Splat, it's all great by day two, or else it's never great because you're reading an 'evil school' children's novel, neither of which is very helpful to a child who's still miserable after three weeks at school.

This is the cutest book I have ever seen. I saw it a book fair at my college and we sat down right there and read it.

A cat goes to school - 3.5*

I like how it is relatable to children but there is a cat as a substitute; this was a very clever idea.

Very simple read.

For: cat lovers; readers looking for a silly book about going to school for the first time.

Possible red flags: characters in peril.
