DNF. It's considerably better written than the first three books, but I read them all one after another and I just couldn't stand it any more.

It's still a kids book, but worth reading. This was a direct extension of book three and added plot/drama where it didn't need to be. They reintroduced bad guys to threaten the main characters, Akki and Jakkin, but they managed to get through. The plot was thick throughout the book and kept me turning pages, wanting more.

I can't believe I only found out about this book's existence this year. Crazy.
It was a good continuation of Jakkin and Akki's story. Maybe not 100% necessary--I was always satisfied with the way things had left off after book three. But...who doesn't want to spend more time in this setting, with these dragons? Sssargon and Sssasha are my favorites.

Jane Yolen did a really good job with making this novel fit with the others, despite the third volume having been published twenty years before this one, and was definitely never bored with it. But even with the Austar IV Encyclopedia entry-epilogue at the end, it still didn't seem quite finished to me. Not that I want the author to keep dragging the series out, but I wish the end had been just a little more final.
