A short prose poem on the similarities in the treatment of women now and in The past in Scotland. A work of magical realism the subject matter is heartbreaking and makes you infuriated at the persistence of negative attitudes to women.

Long Story Short: Love to feel this carved hex on my heart.

Hex is a tale about a witch who is about to be hanged and the girl who perhaps travels through time to be with her during her last days. Amazing character build-up woven by a very dark and whimsical narrative, with a poignant social and feminist critique.

I found this quite a disappointing and difficult read. The sentences are a bit abstract and run on and I kind of got a bit lost trying to read it. It didn't hold my attention enough even though the premise was good and interesting. There's loads that didn't make sense to me like it was gatekeeping something.
