This wasn't bad. It was actually pretty well-written, and the author, whoever they are, is clearly a thoughtful person who loves this country. But I would have liked to see a little more acknowledgement of their complicity. There was a sense of "no one could have predicted it could get THIS bad!" No. More than half the country knew it was a terrible idea. It sounds like the author themselves knew that it was a terrible idea. They go into detail about all the indications before the election of Trump's absolute lack of moral character, but it apparently did not stop them from voting for him. They go on at length about Trump apologists and the hypocrisy of those who stood against him only to roll over when high-ranking jobs were available - without ever acknowledging that, if they are as highly placed as they claim, they are just as much of an enabler.

While I think their dire predictions of what might happen if the 25th Amendment were invoked do unfortunately have some merit, I feel like they are somewhat overblown, and I don't think the fallout from such a measure would necessarily be worse for this country than the Trump presidency is. The author states that "the Twenty-Fifth Amendment should be reserved for scenarios when the commander in chief is truly unable to discharge his duties, not when we are dissatisfied with his performance." I agree with that sentiment, but I wholly disagree with the unspoken assertion that Trump is, in fact, able to do the job of President. He has more than proven himself mentally unfit for the position that he holds.

In my view, this is definitely the best book to come out from inside the Trump presidency. Introspective, revealing, written more from a great books/ "great conversation" based standpoint than any of the others.

Values based discussion of who we are, what the current political situation reveals about us, and what we must consider as we move forward. All packaged in some surprisingly wonderful writing.

Quite evenhanded. Highly recommended to those on both ends of the political spectrum.

A harsh critique of President Trump and his administration. I understand why the author decided to remain anonymous but the identity of the author will change how this indictment reads. If is truly a high ranking official in the administration it would be a devastating tell all of how this administration is being handled. Where as if it was a low level official or a reporter then it isn't quite as powerful. Second hand sources have a tendency to exaggerate some to make their stories more impactful. All in all I would still qualify this as a must read in the lead up to the election.

It's frustrating that all these people are enabling an incompetent president by protecting him from his worst impulses. I look forward to when Trump is no longer president and all these people can speak freely without fear of retaliation from him.

Read this book. Whether you are Republican or Democrat or Independent, read this book.

I debated reading this book. Would it be an echo chamber of Never-Trumpers on CNN? Haven’t I already heard the author’s points made over and over? I can resoundingly say, “No, I hadn’t.”

The author is a reasoned person with a deep grasp of history, philosophy, and thoughtful contemplation. I am sure if we met over dinner we would disagree on potential solutions to America’s current issues. However, I am also sure we would have common ground on the importance of America and our shared joy in living in a democracy.

We have much at stake. Anonymous makes abundantly clear the deep thinking and self analysis we, the Voters, need to do. Not just for the 2020 election, but for the decades to come.

Sad that the people that really need to read this book (his supporters), will dismiss it without a second glance.

A break down on why Trump shouldn't be reelected but nothing I read was new information. I had heard all the stuff reported on at one time or another if not the way he saw it at least in substance.

There is very little here that hasnt been covered in books already written. The importance of the theme remains. However, those who need convincing or enlightment will not read this or any other book outside the bubble.
