Nice follow up to the first book despite a lot of plot twists being easy to guess. The world is expanded beautifully and the characters become more complex. Still not a huge fan of the romantic side plot so don’t expect much progress with it. The ending wasn’t exciting as the last one but I’m still eager to see where the next book will take me.
Graphic: Injury/Injury detail, Kidnapping, Drug use, Gaslighting, and Grief
Moderate: Torture, Toxic friendship, Death, Confinement, and Murder
Minor: Gore and Sexual content

2022 reread: 5 ⭐CW: violence, torture, death
Wandering Star by Romina Russell is book 2 in the Zodiac quartet. I forgot how much this book hurt! God I love Romina's writing. Her world building is so detailed without feeling too heavy. I can't get over how relevant this book still is. This book series is going to be timeless. My favorite thing about these books is that they don't feel like separate books. A lot of second books end up being long and plodding without much happening, but these books feel like one cohesive story and hold your interest the whole way through. Not to mention all the sobbing 😭. My previous review still stands, except I have no idea why I didn't originally give this 5 stars.
Original 2020 review: 4.5 stars. If you read the first book, then you know this was a must read. Romina continually rips my heart out, gives me a glimmer of hope and snatches it all away again. And I love it! I legitimately cried reading this. The author has made the story so cohesive, that the separate books feel like one continuous novel. The growth the characters are going through is so real, the good and the bad. This series is for anyone who is tired of the powers that be and are seeking change, hope, and unity. I will be reading the third book next.
