This was where I had stopped when it released so many years ago and I’m so happy I decided to embark on a journey rereading this series to finish.

This book was the perfect balance of action, lore, and plot movement. The characters have grown so much over the course of the series that I just find myself grinning like an idiot over their successes, gasping in shock at their shortcomings (since I only read two chapters when it released initially), and feeling heartbroken at certain plot points.

I love that Eragon is a character without a love interest (aside from the one sided love for Arya) because it makes it feel more heavy. He’s so young and has everything on his shoulders, he really has no time to find love. But then we get it with his cousin Roran and Katrina who are stupid cute and bring the gravity of the war in a different light.

I cannot wait to finish the series with the next book, but first a break.

Still good, but less so than the second one for me. This got really dark for something that has a YA audience. Some of the content was really disturbing and hard to read, maybe just not my cup of tea. A lot more war and gore.

This one took a while for me to get through. I hated seeing Murtagh as a ‘bad guy’ and I’m ready for Galbatorix to get got.
