A heart wrenching story about the past and present. Love, heartbreak, addiction, young pregnancy, gay relationships, physics and science and how it applies to the world around us and the people we surround ourselves with. Would probably rate it in between 3 and 4 stars. Closer to 4.

I had a lot of trouble with this book, from the topics discussed to the odd back-and-forth between months or even years. It was hard for me to keep track of what exactly was going on.

The timeline was all over the place making the events confusing. Once it settled into Now, 8-10 months ago and 10 month -August, it started to fill out the story more.

But I wasn’t interested in the characters. I was getting into it then the drug use, casual sexual encounters, general bad choices came into play and it wasn’t fun anymore. It felt like those things were romanticized and not handled with the seriousness that they should’ve been.

Unwanted pregnancy was the last straw for me bc I realized I didn’t care what she chose to do, who the father was or how it ended at all. There was a death of one of the could-be fathers due to overdose likely. It was just a train wreck but not interesting enough to find out how much damage it does.

Wowza. I have a lot of different emotions after finishing this book, and for the most part, they're all pretty positive. As Many Nows as I Can Get is a story of healing and growth that I think I will stick around in my brain for the next two weeks. Scarlett was such a strong character from the beginning, and I loved being able to watch her grow into a young woman, independently making her own decisions, even if they were hard ones to make. I think part of her charm is the fact that she can sometimes be quite a frustrating narrator. However, after finishing the book, I think that this un-likeableness is what makes her so realistic of a character. What would someone her age do in her situation? Chances are they're not going to be perfect, and make the right decision every single time. These very human traits are exactly what we see in Scarlett. An imperfect college woman navigating her way through life, not perfectly, but still managing. What a beautiful story to have read.

This is a YA title for older teens, that crosses over easily into adult fiction.
Fills you up with nostalgia for all your younger selves.
Fills you up with all of the choices, mistakes, messes and amazingness of life, in all of it’s time frames.
Fills you up with wanting as many nows as you can get.
