Second time reading it but it felt fresh new. I honestly have zero recollection of the plot. This book is high-pace and addictive, the perfect read for an adrenaline rush. Though the only setback would be the stereotypical description of some character, which is not the author's strong suit. Other than that, it was highly enjoyable.

A book with a lot of potential but a terrible execution.
The Plot
The plot itself was ok. It's a thriller with a typical thriller structure. However, the pacing was incredibly slow. Apparently felt the need Carter to remind the reader every other chapter what happened, what's currently happening and how awfully brilliant his protagonist is (though, he really isn't).

The ability to be able to describe extreme violence is a unique ability not many writers have. Chris Carter is most definitely one of the best at this. This book, the first one in the Robert Hunter series, is not for those that struggle through graphic description of violence. For those who do, you are in for a treat, Chris Carter will take your imagination to dark places while describing you certain scenes. Hunter is definitely a character to build a series around, he is extravagant, weird, intelligent, and not your stereotypical detective. The juxtaposition with Garcia, the more classic good cop, makes it a perfect team. This is a really strong way to begin a series, already since the first moment you can see you are reading a high-quality book, one that will keep you engaged throughout the whole story. There was one small detail that gave away the resolution, but not even then I could have imagined the motivation behind such a gruesome murderer.
