DNF'd at 40ish percent. I wanted to like this trilogy, but I was not enjoying it.

The books are great. Read the first 50 pages of the first and you’ll decide if you want to continue. There’s a lot more philosophical wandering in the later parts of the trilogy. I really enjoyed it.

I will say I’m shocked that people say this is the darkest of the dark, the most gruesome grim dark around. It’s squishy violent, but it’s nothing too disturbing. It’s like smashing heads into rocks. Could be worse.

The final book of this triology was good. My favorite is the first book, but the final book was fast paced, full of surprises, action packed, and had a satisfyingly interesting conclusion. This was my first grimdark series and I thoroughly enjoyed the story. I give the series a solid 4 and this final book was no different. If you enjoy grimdark fantasy or wants something different, this is definitely a great trilogy and great finish.
