I don’t like how exclusionary of trans people this book is. I love the ideals shared but I wish trans people were included in them.

"Why the word feminist? Why not just say you are a believer in human rights, or something like that?” Because that would be dishonest. Feminism is, of course, part of human rights in general—but to choose to use the vague expression human rights is to deny the specific and particular problem of gender.

excellent presentation of information. society really would be so much better if certain people took the time to actually educate themselves about feminism instead of immediately hating what they perceive it to be.
that being said, I definitely did not love the heteronormative and trans-exclusionary language. let's make our feminism intersectional please.

Is this groundbreaking? No. But I think it is an essential reminder of what feminism is and can be, considering the diversions of the definition in the modern age. Feminists are not men-hating ogres who despise beautiful things. They are just people who want to live. Made me think of how I was taught femininity as a child, and how I could raise a hypothetical child outside the shackles of sexism. And I am realizing that in our society, I couldn't.
