A little too much memoir
All that Remains by Sue Black is a very interesting examination of death. The reader learns about pathology, forensic anthropology, and the behind the scenes world of death. I thought parts of it were fascinating, especially the behind the scenes of what professionals do when a body is found. I liked less her musings on her own life and beliefs, honestly because it felt like one was reading a personal journal of an ordinary person.

Not a bad read, but it did get a little tedious. I think it is more of a "not what I was expecting" sort of reaction, than a failing on the part of the author.
This book tends more towards the authors personal feelings about "Death, Mortality, and Solving Crimes", than examples of techniques and cases that were actually used.
And interesting read, but I will skip the next installment.

A surprisingly dull and also disturbingly gruesome book. It isn’t about death itself, but corpses. And lots of war stories from the distinguished author about her work with corpses. I learned far more than I wanted to know, for example, about dismemberment and how donated bodies are preserved and dissected. If corpses fascinate you, however, you’ll love this book.

Really enjoyed this book about forensic anthropology and death. It explores some topics that can be sensitive in nature in a really practical way. The author (and narrator of this book) was likable. Reading this makes me want to rewatch the Bones series.
