The first book by this author and I just happened to come in at the 11th book in the series. While I felt like it didn't matter that I came in to the series so far in because it didn't seem like there was much hinting towards previous books, it did mention a couple of times a wife and a previous wife again in the main characters history. But at the same time, I felt like the book did seem to drag on a little, having moments repeated countless times by many characters which I felt like could've been missed out completely as well as the characters going around in circles to get something done.

While I enjoyed reading the book, there were moments where I grew bored and forced myself to carry on reading down the page and through the chapter. The author's writing was easy to follow along with and didn't hold any of the lingo that some historical novel authors use while writing books set in a certain time which I am grateful for.
