A good and interesting tale. Some of the gags I think would have been better on screen (a little flat in graphic novel form).

A beautiful graphic novel. A surreal story. I really wonder what it could have been like as a film.

A surreal and dream-like sequence of events, “Tale of Sand” is one of the most beautiful books I've read in recent years. With such a limited amount of dialogue I had to force myself to slow down and extract the story from Rámon Pérez's amazing illustrations. This book definitely isn't a passive experience - it requires the reader to do a bit of work. Ian Herring's use of colour should also share top billing alongside Pérez's art and, of course, Jim Henson and Jerry Juhl's screenplay.
