This was an interesting read and was close to a 5 star for me for most of the book. But the way it was done kept making me think it was setting up for a big big twist but in the end it left a little (or maybe a lot) to be desired for me.

Still interesting. I wouldn’t not recommend?

there’s just something about the story telling style that isn’t for me. I think the actual story is intriguing but the way it’s being told bothers me. idk what else to say

I was attracted by the blurb but I couldn't connect to the characters and the story didn't keep my attention.
Not my cup of tea.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

Admittedly I listen to this and feel that perhaps the narration annoyed me. Too much valley girl and verbal fry.

Cynical, boring, poorly-written female characters.

Well written novel. Very much enjoyed the first 2/3(ish). Things in the final act were a little strange to me, though. Drifted away from what I thought it was going to be. Still not sure what I think about it. Some interesting observations about Hollywood, and women's experiences - but at the same time, not as deep as it could have been.

Molly Bit follows an actress, appropriately named Molly Bit, through her career as a broke college student living in Boston, a broke twenty-something trying to make it big and through the ups/downs of her career. The second half follows some of Molly’s associates as they deal with the aftermath of Molly. Unfortunately this book wasn’t for me. To be perfectly frank, this novel had to much of a short story angle to it. There weren’t enough full details, I was confused by the latter half of the novel and I felt like there was a lot of missing character development. Molly felt very one dimensional to me and I never got a satisfactory picture of who she actually was, what she stood for, what her background was. I found myself wondering if Molly was secretly a robot. It felt very man attempting to write a woman character but he has no idea how the female mind/bodies/emotions actually work. If you’re into short stories or novellas, I would recommend this book. If you’re looking for a full, satisfying book with enough meat on it’s bones to keep you sated for days, look elsewhere.

When I first saw it being compared to Daisy Jones and the Six, I thought I was going to be in for a treat. I totally do not think that is a fair comparison at all. In my opinion this was a very disjointed story and it is almost like there are two completely separate books written within the same cover.

I received a Reviewer Copy of Molly Bit by Dan Bevacqua from the publisher Simon & Schuster through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

What It’s About: Molly Bit, a girl from small town Vermont, has always wanted to be famous. This is the story of her rise in Hollywood, her death, and her legacy.

What I Loved: I really think Dan Bevacqua is a good writer. The way he frames his story is unique, splitting it up as if it were the story of a famous celebrity in the way an E! True Hollywood Story, with the life, death, and legacy portion. I appreciated the way he frames the novel. I also loved the last chapter and I think its power was especially dependent on reading the whole book.

What I didn’t like so much: I think I was set up to be disappointed, this book was pitched as Daisy Jones 2.0. It is not that. I wish that there was more character development. I didn't feel like there was any real dimension to the characters and didn't find them likeable. I also felt like characters randomly popped up and I didn't know why they had ARCS.

Who Should Read It: People who want a Hollywood story. People who want an interesting set-up.

General Summary: The rise of a celebrity and the legacy she leaves.
