6/10, I picked this book up because it just arrived at the library a few days ago at the time I wrote this review so I hoped that I would enjoy it, sadly I didn't because even though it was super action packed it felt very confusing and there were other glaring flaws within this, where do I even begin. It begins with the main character Hell'na first explaining the backstory of how the book even got to this point. So apparently humanity discovered a way to go to other planets and the Moon but the people were angry; in a shocking turn of events the Moon split and destroyed almost everything and everyone on Earth but only a few years later a new land arose from the ashes which I'll call Zealandia but I didn't find that to be plausible since it takes millions of years for continents to form, not just a few years or so. Anyways Hell'na is part of Axeland which might be her land or her country; for some reason she goes on a quest to search for Maui, hence the title but I didn't really connect to her or the hundreds of other characters mentioned in this book but I did find an interesting underground civilisation where the people therein don't abide by the laws of gravity which I found strange. I'm also surprised that all the old languages that existed before the "Death of Tech" which is just another name for the apocalypse still exist to this day as well as all the demigods that came out of nowhere.
