I knew I was going to like this book from the first poem-- this part of it specifically:

"...Yesterday, a friend explained
the coming extinction. He shared all the details:

Squirrels and weeds, he said, and pigeons
will be our wildlife. Since then I've been making
lists of what I need to see. Our son has started videotaping
everything we do and say, as though he might save us that way...."

A beautiful collection of poems that, while from 2002, ring with wisdom for today as well. (a new favorite author for me, too)
