This is a quick read with an interesting storyline. A vampire and a witch, a strong attraction, forbidden love, and a possible war between species should've made this a great book, but that potential wasn't quite realized, IMO. It's a bit choppy and ends abruptly. It almost seemed as though the author was trying to cram too much info into too little space. A few more details and a better flow could've turned an okay book into a great one.

I voluntarily chose to review a copy of this book. The Vampire's Witch by Kiki Howell is a short story about a vampire named Isaac who comes back to the town where he used to live because his maker Drake was killed by a werewolf who was attempting to kill Isaac's vampire sister. Isaac understands the complications and implications of him being back in his hometown where his family still lives. They believe that he is dead from a car accident from his car being found but no body. He kidnaps a witch named Winter with the intentions of getting her to tell him the plans that the witches are making for retaliation for one of their own being killed in the crossfire but things don't go as planned.
For me this book is okay. It's not that great and there really isn't anything to make it really engaging or stand out for me which is disappointing. I am an avid fan of paranormal romances and of where relationships between "species" is forbidden because there is distrust, anger or superiority but for me this story really falls short. The story feels a bit rushed regardless of there supposedly being some prior interest one part of the two characters involved. The story needs a bit of fleshing out to really make it something a bit more engaging.

Vampire and a witch, forbidden love between 2 different species. Frowned up by their families and clans, you think this is not going to end well.
This is the first story but gives you a great introductory story into this world. Paranormal creatures co-exist in this resort town, not that peacefully though.
Loved the characters and look forward to seeing where their journey goes next.
