As with any book of short fiction, especially short fiction that all has the same starting point--the titular "last drink bird head"--the results are mixed. Some stories were disposable, some were forgettable and some were riveting. I think overall this one ended up being fairly average (though wildly imaginative), with some moments (and I say moments because the stories in this collections are all flash) that were vivid and haunting.
