A hard story to read, but what a narrative voice! Adunni had to quit school early so her English is pretty imperfect but although she uses phrasing that is not usual or correct, she does such a great job of expressing herself. Sometimes she will say it better than native English speakers do. Very compelling character and story. This book was hard to put down.
