All You Need is Kill, Volume 1 is a manga by Ryosuke Takeuchi about a Japanese soldier,
Keiji Kiriya, who happens to be stuck in a time loop (one that restarts the day over every time he dies) while he is fighting in a war against aliens/monsters. This manga takes place in the somewhat near future and on this particular Earth we are at war with aliens or monsters, it's never fully explained in the first volume what these creatures are or where they're from.
I really liked the premise of the story and the execution was great. This would be a 5 star read if it weren't for the misogyny within the book. There are three female characters in this manga, one of who's nickname is "Full Metal Bitch", and the men claim that she's called that out of "respect". Yeah, okay. Moving on. I don't have much else to say about the other two female characters. I would like to say that there was one Black character in this manga and he picks a pointless fight with the main character and that's all he does, I didn't really like that.
All in all, this was interesting and I enjoyed most of it.
