afropessimism is here schematized by name with respect to the eponymous designations of sentience which emerge with the ravenous colonial expansion of modernity through the western hemisphere known popularly as the US of A. wilderon provides a pedagogy without an ambition to pedagogue: "agency" is only possible upon the condition of gratuitous structural violence, and even then not accessible to just anyone. agency exists absolutely for whites, partially for indians and not at all for the descendants of slaves because of that founding structural violence. i would love to have a job writing about film like this. wilderon's attention to detail is exhilerating. i wonder what he thinks of red tails.
