I only read (listened to) 75 percent of this to be honest, but I enjoyed it. My book club read short stories by LeGuin but I couldn’t get the book in time so decided to rather learn more about her as an author & thinker through her own voice by getting this essay collection from the library. Enjoyed her precise thoughtfulness about words and all positions she held; I also love that she was using her gift actively through quite an advanced age.

Bit of a mixed bag. Some entries were excellent; others exuded a sense of American patriotism I hadn't expected from her. Then of course we have the obligatory take on veganism which prods us to consider the feelings of plants as if they're on a level of equivalency, which struck me as very odd because it's really the same thoughtless conversation from others much less insightful than she was. I did love her entries on her cat Pard, even if they had to take some shots at dogs too (I love both and I think self-proclaimed cat and dog lovers can both miss the point when it comes to the other). I think in the end it forced me to the revelation that she is human like everyone else and I am inclined to disagree with her; it's a bit strange because it's always off-putting when the illusion of the writer, as seen by the reader, dissipates, but that really is the reality.

ursula remains the best. this was a cute, funny, honest, insightful essay collection made up of archived blog posts from her blog, mostly from the early to mid 2010s. her ability to write at length about everything as well as endearing little love letters to her cat made for a wonderful spring read.
