This is the third of six books in Mindy Kaling's Nothing Like I Imagined (Except for Sometimes) Series. These books are short stories about her life. In this edition, Kaling talks about how hard it was to have a child as a single mom. Kaling is a strong but shy woman who felt she could go through the pregnancy and birth alone. Her mother has passed away, her father is still alive. A close friend of hers mentioned that she should hire a full-time baby nurse for the first six weeks after her daughter's birth. Kaling ignored the advice at first. Ultimately, she decided she would, and the experience changed her life. She realized how much she missed her mom, and the baby nurse filled the void that was missing in the whole experience, a connection to a motherly woman who could guide her in those first few weeks.

Mindy opens up about her life in a wonderfully humorous way. She is very relatable, and it's easy to get sucked into her dilemmas, fears, and triumphs. Cute story. I generally like Kaling's humor. I read the first two in the series and really liked them. I plan to read the rest of the series.

As a mother of four, I think this story of being a new mother and finding a support system is my favorite story from Mindy so far. The panic and worry of doing things wrong is a feeling we all experience in a big way, and I enjoyed her honest take on it.

Also, baby books are nonsense. I'm glad we can all agree on that.

I love Mindy Kalings writing style. It's so real and you feel like you could be her best friend. She's having her daughter, her first child, and believes she's going to be a super mom and do it all as a single parent, until her friend tells her she really is going to need help. Mindy seems like she should be every girls best friend!

I really enjoyed this book because Mindy educated me on a culture that I was very unaware of. That culture is having a baby nurse live with you for a couple months after the baby is born. I have never even heard of this. I'm not sure if it is because I grew up and still live in the midwest, where no one I know has done this or if it is because its only a celebrity thing, but I appreciate Mindy being open about it. I wonder if she had a baby nurse for her second kid.

"After a friend real-talks Mindy into hiring a baby nurse, she finds the help she needs—and so much more—in this soulful essay by the acclaimed writer, actress, producer, and director.
Becoming a new mother after losing her own, Mindy Kaling needs help—like someone to answer the questions What is a baby, and why don’t they have kneecaps? Enter Rose. The in-demand, dedicated baby nurse alleviates Mindy’s fears, from the minor to the profound."

Short, cute and Touching

Short, cute, and touching. I think everyone can relate to wanting to have there mother by their side, especially a new mother. I loved she talked about her fears of not having her mom there with her. This will make you yearn for the love of your mother or a mother like. God knows what you need when you need and he will give it to you.

I am glad I decided to give Mindy Kaling's short stories another try. I had read one before and I just wasn't impressed. This time, I loved it, and I wanted more!

Help Is On the Way was heartwarming, cute and quick. Though, having help was completely unrelatable for me, the rest of it was cute & relatable on a different level! I also felt this book was just written better than the last one I read.

I highly recommend this book, especially for mothers, and I cannot wait to continue the series.
