This is a really sweet book about shy kids finding each other. The soft illustrations are beautiful and the sparse text makes it easy to read to even young children. I encourage them to try to spot the shy one as we go.
Normally, children will have to wait until the 2nd reading to spot the shy yellow fish, but I pointed out his tail early in the book this time. The children enjoyed looking for both the pink cuttlefish and the yellow fish.

So damn cute! I just wish it was a little bit longer, it felt a bit rushed

Cute picture book about a shy cuttlefish. There are lots of opportunities to try and spot our hiding protagonist, which I think is a big plus for a lot of kids. As always, Ciraolo's illustrations are so so so cute, and the colors are absolutely gorgeous.

I absolutely loved this picture book! It was so adorable and wholesome. Really great for young children , to show that being shy is not a bad thing.

What this book lacks in plot it more than makes up for in gorgeous illustrations and adorable characters!  Maurice the flapjack octopus is the new kid at school, but few notice him because he's very shy.  His mom accepts a party invitation on his behalf, and he begrudgingly attends, only to find out that he's not the only shy one in town.  A cute story about introverts finding solace in each other.
