I don't usually like cheesy romance novels but this one had me pleasantly surprised. I was shocked that I had found a romance novel with a twist in the plot line and one that had nothing to do with their sex lives.

This book has two stubborn and emotionally stinted, silent people who are in an arranged marriage. Merrick the son of the Lord of Tregellas 'Wicked William' comes home after his father's death to take over his title as Lord of Tregellas. Only Lord Merrick has a secret that could strip him of everything and he is so afraid someone will find out about he pushes everyone away including his two brothers-in-arms and best friends Henry and Ranulf. He even pushes his wife Constance away. Merrick is stubborn, and noble in mind and spirit, he is a very beautiful man.

Constance is a stubborn, out-spoken woman in a time when being an out-spoken woman can get you into trouble. She lives in Tregellas with 'Wicked William' waiting for her betrothed to come back from fighting as a knight. She has lived through 'Wicked' William's mood, his abuse, and his whoring of the villagers wives. So when Merrick finally comes home can anyone blame her for fearing he will be just like him.

Overall it was good. Well written though the characters bug you with their stubbornness to talk about their feelings which leads to both being miserable and not trusting each other. GOOD ROMANCE NOVEL!!

It was okay. I think it started better than it ended. I don't generally like plots where the main conflict in the relationship is poor communication. Ugh.

The big twist was interesting, but I figured it out right before the reveal.

Meh. Just okay. I don't know why but I tend not to like medieval romances.

I didn't like the plot or the characters. The book is literally them saying "I love you/I hate you" for 400 pages, I thought they had no personality and were always contradicting themselves. Also I get this book has not been written a long time ago but please if you setting your story in a medieval era you should at least make sense with it.
