This book was actually really great. After I started to read it, it was hard to put down, especially when I was getting to finish it. The love triangle in the book makes it hard to choose your OTP, personally i ship Reese and Amber over Reese and David. Although they were cute (Reese and David), their love didn't compare to Reese and Amber because David love Reese as much as Amber loved her and I think the way they met and everything that they did together was adventurous and fun and made their love more real. The idea of adding aliens into the story made it just that much more perfect. I never expected it to have aliens and I guess that surprise and plot twist made the book so much better and made me more willing to read it. The reason I have 4 stars is because the book didn't make me want to read it during some parts. Overall it's an amazing book and a really good idea especially with the plot.

I really liked Inheritance, but I don't think it was as good as the first book. I would rate it 4/5 stars, while Adaptation had 5/5 stars. I'm confused as to whether or not there will be a third? *Mild* spoiler, if you even consider it to be one:
SpoilerIt did end in a good place, and that's what I'm afraid of. Cliffhangers, I get. You have insurance that the author has to go on. But a happy ending is just that, an ending. I NEED A THIRD BOOK. I need to learn more about Kurra and the Imrians.

The middle was very slow, because it was back and forth relationship drama when I just wanted to know more about the Imrians. In totality, I thought there was too much relationship business and not enough paranormal.

The result of all the relationship drama was unexpected to me, but I liked it. It didn't feel like it was something being done just to appease the reader. It felt natural and absurd at the same time. The Imrian culture was very interesting, and was my favorite part of the book.

David is my favorite character, it was Julian in the first book, but now I'm not so sure. Julian is such a changeable character it's hard for me to understand him. I really wish there had been more of him just acting normally before all the action set in.

As for the action, that was great! It's written beautifully and easy to understand. Sometimes the reader gets way too overwhelmed in the action and doesn't know which character is standing where, but Malinda Lo doesn't have that issue. Right before the end, there was one exceptional scene that the most terrifying and real scene and it just brought the book up another level.

I really hope there's a third!

I really loved the book! I think it was a very well written and thought out book, and definitely had a very good plot! I loved Reese, she was a very realistic character, and I could easily understand how she thought and such. Great job, Malindo Lo!

I was expecting something different, I guess. It was well paced, and it was resolved well, I just was hoping for more.

This may not be as fast-paced as Adaptation, but I wasn't disappointed at all! I'm so so glad this duology exists, and I'm pushing it on everyone I can.

Although this book was a little slow for a good chunk of the middle, it was because Malinda was taking her time to deftly and intelligently tackle some big issues and concepts, just as she did in the first one. But, I do think a little too much time was spent on those topics this time, causing a bit of a mid-book slump. Once the action picked up again, however, it was unputdownable and thrilling.
The relationships in this duology are really the cornerstone of the story, which is why I’m willing to cut Malinda a break for taking time from the major sci-do plot to focus on them. In the end, it was a satisfying end to this story with an unexpectedly delightful resolution to the love triangle.
Reese will always hold a special place in my heart for her journey to self-discovery and bisexuality, and I will forever love Malinda Lo for taking the time to write that into a genre book.

I can't believe that ending actually happened! I'm in total and utter awe. I wish I could've read this book at age 17, it would've made a world of difference.

Inheritance definitely has the same feel as Adaption but it's not as exciting and interesting.

It feels like a lot more time was spent on developing romance in this one than in the first book, which is a shame because I was ready for more alien conspiracies and exciting action scenes. Nothing really exciting happened until well past the halfway point.

I did really enjoy the resolution of the love triangle, I really want to see more poly relationships in books, as well as bisexual relationships, I just wish there had been a better balance of plot and romance.

It's still a good book and I really like this series, but I was a little disappointed by the lack of action.

Inheritance is the conclusion to Adaptation. I loved both of these books. I’m going to keep this review short because most of my thoughts are in my review for the first book and not many of them changed thro ugh this book.
I liked Reese. I liked Amber. I liked David. I didn’t always like Reese’s choices, especially the ones that led to the weird love triangle because she got involved with David before she was over Amber. But I did like how the love triangle turned out. I liked that Amber’s culture showed David and Reese that there was more than one way to live. I really liked that this story ended in a different way than the usual ones, in regards to the love triangle. Other than Reese jumping way too quickly into a relationship with David after her and Amber ended things, I really liked this book.
Overall, I think this was a really fun YA science fiction story. I loved all the twists and turns. I loved seeing Lo’s twist on the ‘aliens have come to Earth’ trope. I will definitely be picking up more books by this author in the future. She did a great job of developing the characters and creating an exciting story.
