A lovely book with a very similar theme to a man called Ove. It was a slow start but I found I was more into it as I made my way through the story and got to know Eudora's background/

3/5 I feel directly comparing this book to A Man Called Ove is a little simplistic, but there are very strong parallels. Elderly person that has lost the will to live but is brought back out of their shell by new neighbors and friends? Shenanigans ensue. Its a sweet story and I did like it very much, but I feel like my favorite chapters were those that centered on Eudora's relationship with her sister and mother (that's the book I want to read!) The present-day moments moved much more slowly for me.

Well, that was a beautiful, tear-soaked ride!
This was such a warm and delightful hug of a book. We follow 85 year old Eudora, who is basically about through with this life until she meets her new little neighbor, 10 year old Rose. Rose is precocious and adorable, and the relationship she and Eudora grow into is heartwarming.
This one has all the vibes of “A Man Called Ove” meets “Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine” - which is wild for me, because I didn’t like either of those books. I LOVED this one. I loved every single character (other than Eudora’s family), and I didn’t want it to end.
It was funny, persnickety, and just beautiful. I laughed and I cried and I laughed again. This is a cozy hug inside the pages of a book.

Similar story line as A Man Called Ove. Eudora meets young Rose who is filled with excitement and surprises. Eudora is ready to die and makes plans to die on her own terms in Switzerland, but as her friendship with Rose blossoms, Eudora is content to stay in England. Through well placed flashbacks, we learn of the experiences that shaped Eudora's life. Well written with loveable characters.
