A must read for any self proclaimed feminists, particularly and especially the white ones.

So much goodness to soak up, it’s hard to put into words. As black women, not only do we live at the intersection of racism and sexism, they each magnify the impacts of the other. It was fascinating to learn about the historical development of the feminist movement and its erasure of black women, but I was able to make soooo many connections to the way things have evolved over time and the way things are in the present. If was life-giving to have my experiences validated and put into such eloquent words. Wonderful read to start off the year!

Je ne peux que recommander cette lecture.
Notamment si vous êtes comme moi, une femme blanche, cette lecture est primordiale pour comprendre les disparités entre les femmes blanches et les femmes racisées.

a fine introduction, i didn't quite agree with everything said near the end but it's a good starter book for looking into intersectional feminism.

Good reread of a critical Black Feminist theoretical text. This piece is a part of the collection of bell hooks’ best work. I have distanced myself from her and some of her philosophy recently so it was good to return to this jewel.
