So good!! Kept trying to sneak in moments to read here and there but I honestly wished I could have sat down and devoured in one session. Knocking off a star because there are some psychological aspects that don't quite land over the course of the story but still a great ride with a satisfying wrap up at the end.

"And in the end, wasn’t that the key to marriage? Learning to pretend that a few unspoiled things could make up for all the broken ones."

This book had me HOOKED. I find myself a bit jaded these days when it comes to twisty thrillers with unreliable characters, because I always find everything so predictable. While I did figure out most of this book, I just had such a fun time reading it. My only gripe is that I think there were too many unnecessary subplots that did nothing to progress the story.

Amanda is a gorgeous young mother who is found murdered after her neighbor’s party. Her husband Zach is being held at Rikers, a prison notorious for its brutality. Desperate to clear his name, he calls upon an old law school friend he hasn’t spoken to in at least a decade, for help. What happened to Amanda leading up to her death, when it seemed like she had the perfect life and family?

This book was very engrossing and the style made the story flow effortlessly. I liked how transcripts from the trial were incorporated to break things up, they integrated perfectly into the story. I will definitely check out future books from this author.

Many thanks for the publisher for providing me a review copy via BookishFirst giveaway.

This was definitely a page-turner, and I had high hopes for it as it was compared to Big Little Lies, but unfortunately it did not deliver. I didn't particularly like any of the characters, there were so many plot threads that were just dropped, and an unsatisfying ending.

Contains blackmail, which is going to make me want to throw a book across the room every time. The end is not very satisfying, but I don't read a lot in this genre so maybe it's exactly what people who like crime fiction are looking for.
